President of Council
Tyler is the President of Township Council and a two-term Councilman At-Large. First elected at the age of 19 in 2016, Tyler serves as one of the youngest Councilman and Council President in the State of New Jersey. Tyler uses his vigor and big-picture approach to bring a new perspective to the community, improve services, and modernize government. During his tenure with Council, Tyler has pioneered transparency by leading the charge to incorporate Live Streaming Council meetings, creating the Township’s first-ever Facebook page, and updated the Township website with a modern focus.
Outside of government, Tyler is an Associate Attorney and Chief Operating Officer of McOmber McOmber & Luber.
Dedicated to the Community
Perhaps instilled while earning the rank of Eagle Scout, Tyler realized early in life that he was determined to make a difference and support the greater good of the community. Tyler is an active member of the Delran Recreation Advisory Committee, planning free events for the community. Tyler was influential in developing and facilitating the Delran Winter Festival and Delran Night Out, which brought the first fireworks show to Delran after a nearly 20-year hiatus. Thanks to the efforts of many – including the police department, fire department, and EMS – these events continue to break records with crowds of over 3,000 residents.
He is also the liaison for the Delran Township Green Team, which helps make Delran a more sustainable community through education and various projects.
Tyler also currently serves as a Board of Education Member on the joint Board of the Burlington County Special Services School District & Burlington County Institute of Technology. Tyler was the founding Vice-President of the Delran Education Foundation, a nonprofit raising money for educational initiatives.
Mr. Burrell’s success in building a stronger and diverse community has been widely recognized, as he earned a place on NJ Insider’s Millennials To Watch List in 2020, 2019, & 2018. He also earned the distinction of “30 Under 30 Trendsetters” by SNJ Millennials – an award honoring those who have committed to serving their communities.
Education
Tyler earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2021. Through PENN’s cross-disciplinary approach, Tyler also studied at Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Certificate in Politics. At PENN, Tyler was a pro-bono researcher for the New Jersey Partners For Women and Justice, which offers free legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence. Tyler graduated from Rowan University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
