Tom has lived in Delran for ten years and loves the people, schools, and community. He first got involved in the community during the High School’s homecoming week to help build the float for his daughter’s class.
He became further involved with the community by fundraising for Jake’s Place and after meeting some of the elected officials. He was asked to fill a vacant seat on the Zoning Board in 2016 and hasn’t stopped helping delran since.
Professional
Tom Lyon started his career as a UPS Service Provider in 1986 and is proud of his 32+ years as a Teamster. He has been a Business Agent and elected Trustee of Teamsters Local 676 since 2007. He also holds the title of Political Coordinator for Local 676.
Family and Community
Tom and his family are active in community service and support various charities with their time, money and fundraising efforts. The Tour de Shore Children’s Foundation and Autism Awareness are near and dear to their hearts. Tom’s wife, Donna, is on the Board of Directors of the Tour de Shore Children’s Foundation.
Tom moved to Delran in late 2009 and in 2011 married Donna Patterson, who has resided of Delran since 1995. They have three grown children. Melissa is a college administrator in New Hampshire; Juliana is a professional writer for a Cherry Hill-based company; and James is a college senior studying the sciences. Tom and Donna also have another family member, a Shihtzu named Bella, who thinks she is the Queen of Summer Hill.
Tom has participated in many election campaigns over the years through his role as Political Coordinator, and he was thrilled to help his friend Dan O’Connell both in Delran and Burlington County. He hopes to represent Ward 2 with the same commitment and energy as Councilman O’Connell and Councilman Morrow have in the past.
Education
Tom is a proud graduate of Cherry Hill HS West (1979) and The University of Arizona (1984), where he attained a B.A. in Political Science.
