HOLIDAY SAFETY TIPS

As Christmas draws closer and things become more rushed, the Delran Police Department would like to remind Delran residents and all shoppers to be extra careful while shopping.
  1. Be careful driving through parking lots, watch your speed and watch out for pedestrians. Be especially careful of children darting out from between parked cars and vehicles backing out of parking slots.
  2. Do not leave your packages visible in your vehicle.
  3. When using your debit card, protect your pin number, and be sure you secure your debit card or credits card in you wallet or purse.
  4. Be cautious of people bumping into you, a technique often used by pick pockets.
  5. Do not leave your purse or pocket book unattended in your shopping cart, and be sure to keep your purse or pocket book closed.
  6. Do not hesitate to report any suspicious activity to store personal, security or police.

PROJECT BLUE LIGHT
Additionally, the Delran Police Department would like residents to support Project Blue Light. Dolly Craig initiated this project which is now nationwide in memory of her Son-In-Law, Daniel Gleason a Philadelphia Police Officer. Who was shot and killed June 5, 1986 while investigating a report of vandalism to a vehicle.  Officer Gleason was 38 and left behind a wife and six children.

Project Blue Light is designed to show support and thank police officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and for those who currently serve.  You can show your support by displaying a single candle with a blue bulb in your front window.  Mrs. Craig is now deceased but her idea carries on through out the country.  Daniel Gleason was the brother of long time Delran Resident Andy Gleason who is an active Emergency Medical Technician with the Delran Emergency Squad. Information regarding Officer Gleason and others who died in the line of duty can be viewed by going to the Officer Down web page.
